Welcome to the Autumn edition of your free community newsletter, which you might notice is slightly shorter in length than usual. A number of regular articles are unfortunately absent, which is partly due to holidays and sadly, partly due to poor health, however normal service will be resumed next time.
The Parish Council (see Page 2) is asking for residents’ views on possible improvements to the two playing fields, and also general ideas to make life in Scarning even better. The Community Speed Watch group is also appealing for volunteers, particularly from the Dereham end of the village, to help maintain the service. See Page 9.
Forty years ago, Scarning was about to see huge changes within the village as Tim Farnham discusses on Page 3. For younger residents, the houses have always been there, so it would be wonderful to see some photos of the Draytonhall Lane area before and during the house building, if you have any please.
This edition of the Beacon is the first of the new quarterly newsletters, so it will be early December before the next one. However, if you have online access, it is easy to keep up-to-date, so you needn’t miss out. The village website – www.Scarning.Info – plus Scarning Community on Facebook and Instagram, plus Nextdoor – all have the latest information on events and activities within Scarning, plus all the latest news and views.
