The July edition of your free community newsletter is now available to download!

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations were nearly four weeks ago now, but some of us are still recovering! It was fantastic to see such a huge number of Scarning residents, plus quite a few from further afield, attend. The beacon lighting event was watched by nearly 300 people, more than at Dereham apparently. The wet Sunday saw the outdoor Fete morph into an indoor Craft Fair, but it was still dry enough for outdoor activities like the bouncy castle and the Bubble Man. Many other events were cancelled completely, so well done to Scarning for coping so admirably.

A few photos of the weekend are on Page 11, but many more are on the village website, along with some videos.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in any way, shape or form, from all the visitors to stall holders, to the band, to the organisers and to all the helpers.

June also saw a huge turnout for the Sing For Ukraine concert, which was not only a wonderful evening’s entertainment, but also raised an astonishing amount of money for a very worthy cause. Page 2 for more details.

From September’s edition, the Scarning Beacon will be switching from a monthly newsletter to a quarterly one. The companion website – www.Scarning.Info – will contain many of the regular monthly articles, plus has space for far more detailed information, and also the obvious advantage of always being up-to-date.

The quarterly newsletters will tie in with the four seasons of the year and will still be distributed widely via social media, and emailed directly to our subscriber list. But for current news and monthly information, the village website is the place to visit!
