Ben Hewson (Eric Wright’s Grandson) has kindly supplied some more of Eric’s excellent colour photos from the late 1950s of events taking place on the Shipdham Lane Playing Field.  Some are of a church service, some of a cricket match, and some are of two separate fetes.

Unfortunately we do not know the exact date of any of them, but we are trying to narrow it down, as there are some interesting clues – particularly in the background. All appear to be before the original pavilion was built, but one of the fetes includes a brand new Bowls Clubhouse and a freshly planted hedge around the green. Some show the old cottages next to the old Black Horse pub, and a large red brick building next to the old garage,

If anyone can shed some light on possible dates, or can name some of the faces in the photos, please let me know – Mail@Scarning.Info
