Welcome to the Spring edition of your quarterly community newsletter, which you can download for free from here.
The days are getting longer and spring sunshine is starting to replace the recent wintry chills, and who better than Robert Browning & William Wordsworth to express the emotions that spring brings to us all? Please see Page 9 to read two of their poems.
Spring will also be celebrated in style on March 25th when Dereham Band will perform a Spring Serenade concert in the Church. A poster for the concert is on Page 4 and from past experience of brass band concerts in the church, this is an event not to be missed.
On Page 6, Tim Farnham mentions the concert along with a Garden Party to be held at Corrine Steward’s delightful Broadway Farm on July 2nd,
Continuing the garden theme, Graham Watts lists a number of NGS gardens in our area which will be open for visitors throughout the spring and summer months. See Page 16 for more details.
Looking forward to spring, Susan Cranmer discusses her allotment on Page 14 and also her experiences with spinning on Page 10.
Extensive grounds care work has been carried out at the Bowls Club in recent weeks, which Alan Glister writes about on Page 14. The Club has a very full fixture list this year – which are all included in the Village Events calendar on the website. (There are so many games, it would have been quicker to list when there isn’t a match taking place!)
The next Beacon will be published in early June, so in the meantime I hope you are able to enjoy springtime in Scarning.
