Scarning Parish Council

The Parish Council has nine councillors and looks after the interests of the parish and its inhabitants. It has many functions, but broadly speaking is responsible for the provision and maintenance of the children's play areas on the Water Meadows, the installation of play equipment on the Village Playing Field, the maintenance of the roadside verges and hedges in some parts of the parish, the provision of dog and litter bins, the maintenance of some street lights, the production and distribution of the village newsletter, the maintenance of the church clock and the war memorial, and the repair and upkeep of bus shelters in the parish. The Parish Council's Precept for the current financial year is £30,000.

Scarning Parish Council meetings are open to the public and are held at 7.30pm in the Village Hall on the third Monday of every second month (beginning in January). Everyone is welcome to attend Parish Council meetings, where there is always a chance for members of the public to ask questions or raise matters of concern. If you can't get to a meeting, contact any of the councillors, or the clerk, who can raise the issue on your behalf. Scarning village hall Scarning Village Newsletters

The Parish Council publishes and distributes a newsletter which is produced six times a year. If you have an article relating to the Parish of Scarning or would like to advertise an event relating to the Parish in this newsletter, please send to Nick Hartley at Oakleigh House, Shipdham Lane, Scarning, NR19 2LB. Please note any events need to be given at least two months in advance.

You can also submit items for inclusion on this website at a week or so in advance.

Grants
The Parish Council wishes to support activities and causes which benefit the parish of Scarning and can provide grants to groups which directly benefit some or all of the residents of Scarning. To find out more and to download an application form see here
