They can offer advice and practical help, including grants for items such as furniture, computers, and white goods, as well as assistance with everyday living costs. In addition, they may provide funding towards care home fees, top-up costs, or home care services, such as daily care visits during times of need.

Question – How do you qualify for a Council Tax reduction?
Answer – Council Tax Reductions are underclaimed, with an estimated 2.4–2.7 million eligible people missing out—around 1 in 4 households.
People may qualify in several ways, including:
- A 25% single-person discount
- Full exemptions for full-time students
- Reductions for those with severe mental impairment, people diagnosed with conditions such as severe dementia may qualify for a reduction of between 25% and 100%, depending on circumstances and council rules.
In England, schemes are set by local councils, while Scotland and Wales have national systems.
