The coronation of King Charles III will be broadcast on a big screen in the middle of Dereham.
Breckland Council is setting up a screen on Fleece Meadow, off Metsell Way, for people to watch the crowning at Westminster Abbey from 10.30am on Saturday, May 6. Also at the Meadow running from 10am to 4pm will be a Norfolk Farmer’s Market, a bar run by the Railway Tavern, food stalls, a bouncy castle and a circus workshop.
There will be performances by Keely Rayner, Martin Dixon and Sidecar Sadie during the afternoon, with people welcome to bring their own picnics and chairs. There will be a family film night at the Meadow from 6pm – people can vote for which film they want to watch through Dereham Town Council’s Facebook page.
The Memorial Hall in Norwich Road will host a Kidz Pop Party in the afternoon and a ceilidh in the evening.
Live Music will also take place at the Queen Mother’s Garden from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Mr Mix-It, Dereham Band and Joyce Miller will play and there will be a hog roast and refreshments. Tickets will be available from Meeting Point next week.
Dereham Heritage Trust will open Bishop Bonner’s Cottage Museum with a display about previous coronations.
