The following is a message from Rev Paul Cubitt, following the Gardens Open Day on June 27th, which he has given permission to be posted.

Dear everyone,

Thank you for such a wonderful Sunday at the open gardens. Clare and I managed to see all of them and to have a good chat with many as we went around. It was one of those days when the pandemic seemed far away. People travelled to come, the weather was kind, the food and hospitality was wonderful and the gardens a delight.

For Clare and me it was a real tonic to be at a real village event – the first we have attended in the 10 months since I have been Team Rector. It is only when you come to such an event you realise how much has been missing during the lockdowns and social distancing restrictions.  It was more than just visiting wonderful gardens and more than raising funds for the church, it was an event that brought colour, welcome, hope and healing. People simply loved being out and about and being made welcome in your gardens. Thank you.

The evening BBQ saw a renewal of togetherness and for us making friends. It was a perfect Sunday. Thank you. The funds raised are now at £2487.50 which is amazing, but this seemed to be more than just making money, it was about village life, friendship and welcome.

Thank you again, God bless you all.

Paul
