Welcome to the winter edition of your community newsletter which, needless to say, has a definitely Christmas theme.
The Christmas Craft Fair is taking place on Sat 3rd Dec from 10 to 2pm in the Church and Village Hall. There will be lots of stalls selling a wide range of goodies in the church, together with an exhibition by Scarning Art Club. Seasonal refreshments will be served in the Village Hall as part of the ever popular Coffee Mornings. The Fair will provide a splendid start to the Christmas season. The previous day (Dec 2nd), Dereham Walkers Are Welcome are arranging another guided walk, starting from the Market Place, with a wide range of distances, so it really appeals to all levels of fitness. More details are on Page 15. On the same page you can also find details of a sociable walk on New Years Eve being organised by Clare Jones.
Scarning Table Tennis Club continue to play regularly, with weekly afternoon sessions and competitive matches in the local table tennis league. So, they also appeal to players of all abilities and would be delighted if you wish to join them. Further details on Page 10.
Liz Taylor guides us to two seasonal poems on Page 4 and also includes some delicious recipes for Christmas on Page 22. The Mid Norfolk Singers are holding their Christmas concert on 11th December – read more about the choir on Page 10. Christmas is sometimes referred to as the “C” word, but sadly so too is cancer. The sterling work by Dereham Cancer Care is highlighted on Page 2.
